How do I manage course timeframes?

Each course runs inside a timeframe — a named From / To window for one cohort. Extra timeframes let you offer the same course again, or to overlapping groups, without mixing enrolments or analytics.

Create and edit timeframes on the course Settings tab, in Course timeframes. Select Save changes when you are done.

A period shows as Active when today’s date is on or after From and, if you set a To date, on or before To. Tick No expiration date to leave To empty so the cohort stays open-ended.

Enrolling a group or learner attaches them to a course timeframe (the current default). On a person’s Directory page, use Add timeframe, pick the course, then pick the period so they join that cohort. Use the timeframe switcher in the course to move between cohorts without leaving the course.

Activity schedules are separate. On the course structure, each info page, quiz, guided practice, or topic chat can be Visible, Hidden, or Visible from date. Those per-activity dates control when an exercise appears in the learning world; they do not create a new cohort. A learner only sees a scheduled activity if they are enrolled in a timeframe and the activity itself is visible that day.

Open the course and go to the Settings tab, then Course timeframes.
Select Add timeframe. A new period appears named with today’s date, From set to today, and No expiration date on.
Rename the period, set From and optionally To, or keep No expiration date. An Active badge appears when today falls in that range.
Select Save changes. To remove a period, use delete and type the timeframe name to confirm — that also removes enrolments and learning data for that cohort.
Apply the timeframe by enrolling students or a directory group (they join the default period), or open Directory → a person → Add timeframe and choose the course and period.
Schedule individual activities from the course structure (Visible, Hidden, or Visible from date). Those dates sit on top of the cohort timeframe; they do not replace it.
